As many of you may already know, Theatre Royal Associate Artists Danusia Iwaszko and Lucinda Meredith have been working together with Bury St Edmunds Women’s Aid (The Refuge) to create and hold a series of writing workshops; using the tools of theatre to help women to express their stories, thoughts and concerns. Alchemy is the developed work of these women and will be presented as script in hand readings.
There are two performances planned at the Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds on Wednesday 28th March at 3pm and 7:30pm.
3pm Performance Start
4:30pm Q&A Panel
7:30pm Performance Start
9pm Q&A Panel
Suffolk Community Foundation continues to help fund this important work, via our Women and Girls Fund, the Hodge and Shallow Fund and, most recently, through a grant from the Shadwell Fund.
For those of you who missed the last event on this subject, ‘Survivors’ Voices’, which was held at DanceEast in October 2017, here a few words from those who attended:
’Completely and utterly blown away by the powerful content, and by the strength of the women who answered our questions.”
“I feel this performance would be beneficial to many more… I certainly would have liked all our office to see this performance.”
“Incredibly moving and hard hitting but also terrifying to realise this is going on nearby.”
“It was an extraordinary piece of work – I can’t stop thinking about it – it shows what can be achieved when people in Suffolk work together.”
“I just wanted to say how fantastic the event was last night; such brave performances and I thought the panel was excellent. I hope we may be able to roll this out to more people. In the meantime – very well done!”
If you would like to reserve your free place for either performance, please contact Maggie at Suffolk Community Foundation via email firstname.lastname@example.org by 11am on Monday 26th March.
