Grants to support housing projects that will strengthen local communities.
The Nationwide Community Grants Programme, funded by Nationwide Building Society, awards grants of between £10,000 and £50,000 to housing projects that will strengthen local communities by:
- Preventing people from losing their home
- Helping people into a home
- Supporting people to thrive within the home environment
Eligible applicants must be a registered charity, charitable incorporated organisations, community land trusts or housing co-operatives.
Co-operatives and community benefit societies registered with the Financial Conduct Authority are also eligible as long as their associated activities target housing or homelessness.
Essex Community Foundation (ECF) is leading on the programme in the East of England and is working with Suffolk Community Foundation to distribute grants in our county.
Applications will be assessed and then considered by a regional board, made up of Nationwide members and employees.

We encourage you to speak with the grants team on 01473 602602 in advance of starting an application. To assist with this, we are holding two Phone-In Funding Surgeries to speak with potential applicants.
The two-hour surgeries will be on:
- Tuesday 29 October from 2pm to 4pm
- Friday 1 November from 10am to 12pm
