Grants towards projects which encourage a reduction in sugar intake and a healthier lifestyle.
Public Health Suffolk in conjunction with Suffolk Community Foundation are looking to offer grants of up to £1,000 to support the work of voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations that are delivering work to support those who live and work in Suffolk.
This particular fund is specifically open to PTAs or Friends of Schools/PRUs, or any community group such as Brownies, Scouts and youth projects, which can encourage a reduction in sugar intake and a healthier lifestyle. Priority will be given to those working in areas of high deprivation.
This fund is looking to support projects:-
- That address the 10-point sugar reduction plan, especially points 9 & 10 – please find the Sugar Reduction Plan here on page 3.
- That are child or young person led
- That can show sustainability
- Where the young people are aged between the ages of 5 – 18
- That use alternative methods to promote their work
The fund will not support:-
- One off interventions
- Substantial capital equipment costs unless a satisfactory explanation of how it will be used to meet the criteria of the fund is provided.

Types of projects:-
The funder is very open to interpretation of meeting the sugar reduction plan and encourages young people to be creative, (NOTE: if there is any element of food to be used/sold etc. then compliance with the school’s food plan must be sought via the headteacher, prior to commencement).
- Healthy tuck shop
- Growing vegetables
- Cooking sessions
This is a rolling programme and you can expect to receive a reply within 8 weeks of submitting your application.
