Age UK Suffolk – Case Study

Age UK Suffolk‘s recent funding will enable their team to fully adapt their service provision to ensure that older people who are most vulnerable and at risk can continue to be supported, enabling them to maintain their independence at home during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Their Information & Advice line advisors are now able to work from home on diverted numbers, so older people still have access to benefits’ advice, with a 30% increase in calls to this line due to extra demand.

They have also adapted their existing befriending service for those who are isolated with limited or no social networks, via a regular call. The charity has also enabled regular “Good Day Calls” to their community clients who are not unable to attend their usual social befriending groups, and an emergency shopping scheme to support those older people who are most in need of emergency provisions.

We are so very grateful to the recent fund we have received.  The support given to this appeal has enabled us to step up and adapt our services, responding to the needs of our older people across the county, who are likely to be feeling even more lonely and isolated right now.
