James Thompson and Alex Parish took on the ultimate endurance challenge recently to raise money for the Stand Up For Suffolk giving circle managed by Suffolk Community Foundation. They ran 100K side by side in 13 and a half hours, pushing through unusually high temperatures, fatigue, and the mental hurdles that come with such a monumental feat. The pair smashed their fundraising target of £3,000, raising an impressive £3,700 with Gift Aid.

James said “The idea of running 100K always sounded easier than actually doing it—but we made it! We had incredible support from our family and friends, which truly carried us through those final, gruelling kilometres. Running as a team with Alex was amazing—we kept each other going when things got tough. We’re absolutely thrilled with all the donations we received; they were a huge source of motivation during every hot, hard mile!”

Completing the Stour Valley Path 100K Ultra Run wasn’t just about distance —it was about purpose. Running as a duo proved to be their secret weapon – a masterclass in camaraderie and resilience. Their story reminds us that, with the right support, a strong partnership, and a cause worth supporting, even the toughest challenges can be conquered.

Congratulations and thank you to James and Alex from us all at Suffolk Community Foundation, what a magnificent achievement!
